Published manufacturer information helps inform our development. The figures below describe other products, not tested performance of Twist & Steam. They are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. Reviewed November 5, 2026.
| Published detail | Biogia self-heating warming wipes | Instant Hot Towel |
|---|---|---|
| Reported temperature | 50–60°C for consumer towels; the source also labels this 120–140°F (rounded). | Close to 100°C / 212°F. This is a high-heat benchmark, not a skin-contact recommendation. |
| Warm-up | Approximately 30–60 seconds. | FAQ says under one minute; instructions specify waiting one minute. |
| Warmth duration | Approximately 15–30 minutes at a useful temperature. | Heat pack: up to 10 minutes, depending on surrounding temperature. |
| Activation | Pressing a designated spot ruptures a separating film, bringing mineral and water together. | Add 120 ml water to the pouch containing the towel and heat pack. |
| Materials / format | Internal heating module; single or multiple towel configurations described. | Microfiber towel, mylar pouch; magnesium-based heat pack with iron and salt. |
| Reuse / shelf life | Not specified for the self-heating version on the cited technology page. | Single-use heat pack; stated five-year heat-pack shelf life when stored cool and dry. |
| Handling / limitations | The cited self-heating section does not provide full handling instructions. | Instructions require tongs. FAQ advises waiting for the reaction to stop and prohibits use on aircraft, buses, subways, or other public transport. |
